Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds in Minster Lovell
A trip out to the beautiful Oxfordshire village of Minster Lovell – the well-preserved ruins of Minster Lovell Hall are usually teeming with tourists, but we visited at the height of the UK’s flooding armageddon in February so there was nobody around. As sunset hit, there was an unusually high number of birds coming out to play high in the trees, so I snapped this recording with my mobile phone, hence the relatively low fidelity. For the remixed version, I’ve tried to conjure something of the atmosphere of menace of The Birds, layering samples I made purely from the original on top of each other and adding a threatening little loop of birdsong, almost like a beat.
