Epic sounds from inside a cathedral
Something with a religious flavour today – on a recent visit to Southwark Cathedral in London, I came across a musical performance being put on for hundreds of schoolchildren inside the cavernous, beautiful building. Following a brief piece of music (drenched in natural reverb from the building), the priest then starts to ask the children how they’ve been fundraising for their own local church communities in London.
The remix. Drones. Snippets of speech from the priest. Rising electronic pulses. A loop begins, constructed from the original song. Short bursts of horns rise in and out of the mix. The drones fade away. Applause.
