New sound: on the Loop in Chicago

Chicago_LoopToday’s sound is from Chicago, submitted by new contributor Lee Barry. The original recording is from the Chicago Loop in the area in front of the Art Institute at Michigan Avenue and Adams, and the remix is a ambient musical reconstruction.

Lee says: “Towards the end of the clip an elevated train roars overhead, and I am using this in the remixed and re-composed piece “Urban Biota”. Urban Biota is on my new ambient album Music For Places II: Airglow. (Not all the pieces on the album are based on field recordings, but are rather sonic abstractions or soundtracks of actual places, such as the Atacama Desert and sites in Iceland.)”
