Underwater duck recording with a hydrophone
I recently picked up a hydrophone to make some underwater recordings on upcoming trips to Venice and Hamburg, so I thought I’d give it a road test at home first. I recorded the sound of us feeding the ducks, swans and geese on the river both above water with the normal microphone and below water using the hydrophone to hear the difference between the two sound worlds.
The field recording is the ‘above water’ duck feeding sound, while the memory version sees the above water version slowly give way to the underwater hydrophone version, as one sound mixes across into the other as if we’re sinking below the water.
