Intonarumori and Roadworks

imagesThe sounds of (re)construction today, from Lincoln’s Inn Fields in London – cement mixer, pneumatic drill and the sounds of just some of the hundreds (thousands?) of roadworks that pierce the London soundscape every day.

New contributor Joseph Young AKA Giuseppe Marinetti from Brighton, UK, has taken on the field recording for reimagining.

Rather than a musical reimagining, this is a proper deconstruction of the sound, all rattling percussive noise clips and a sound like an air raid siren constructed from a cement mixer.

It’s almost a feasible sound from some kind of modified, crazed version of standard roadworking kit – perhaps the clue is in Joseph’s title for his piece, ‘Intonarumori and Roadworks’.
