An album of some of the highlights from our current Oblique Strategies sound project is released today – it’s a digital release available for free, with cover artwork produced by Giulia Biasibetti and reimagined sounds by a dozen different artists.
The album is a selection of tracks that work together particularly well musically and and complement each other as part of an album that’s a great listening experience in itself – before you even get into the matching field recordings and the process behind each sound. There’s everything from pounding dub and beautiful piano pieces to early Pink Floyd-style ambient washes and vocal reconstructions of field recordings.
The locations covered by the album include Florence, Istanbul, Dublin, Dubai and even a rainforest in northern Thailand!
Although the album is a great introduction to the Oblique Strategies project, the 12 tracks here represent less than a quarter of the total sounds (making this selection was tough!), and you can hear the entire project and explore the sound map here.
Download, listen and enjoy!
