The River Avon at peace

Certainly the most bucolic, and possibly the most relaxing sound from our Quiet Street installation is this field recording from Norfolk Crescent, which leads down to the River Avon.

Here, after a recording of a clanging metal gate closing behind me, we settle down by the river for a few minutes of r & r by the water, punctuated by birdsong and a couple of passers-by.

Sound artist Toby Wiltshire, who often works around the concept of place and is also an avid collector of field recordings, took on this recording and created a masterful, rhythm-based composition around the sound of the clanging gate, which works really well on its own but also as a simultaneous companion to the original recording in the installation mix below.
