Sounds from Times Square
New York’s iconic Times Square today, and a sound installation by Max Neuhaus in situ. The field recording was taken by Brooklyn resident Adel Souto, who also made this short documentary about the installation:
We handed the field recording over to UK-based band Gad Whip, who in their own words “make field recordings and then imagine how a ‘song’ might work with the field recordings, creating a kind of suggested visualisation of the piece”.
Here’s their interpretation of the field recording, turning it into a six-minute, guitar-led avant-rock piece.
