The Hague: a streetcar journey in sound

A new sound from The Netherlands today courtesy of Robert van Riel, who sends us his fifth submission to Cities and Memory – thanks Robert!
Here we take a ride on The Hague’s streetcar system, with a reimagined sound that creates a mesmerising, absorbing repeated experience from one streetcar trip.
Robert says: “It was quite a straightforward recording, but the squeaking sound of the wheels on the tracks kept ringing in my ears.
Something that doesn’t necessarily have to stop, if you put the interpretation on ‘repeat’.” Give it a try.
