Free album – Sounds of the Year 2015

The end of year review season is firmly upon us, so we’re happy to release Sounds of the Year 2015, a free digital album today collecting together some of the highlights from Cities and Memory in 2015!

The sounds here cover everywhere from New York and Toronto to Amsterdam and our home city of Oxford. As ever, the pieces are built from field recordings of existing locations, and the source material here takes in traffic signals, car horns, coffee cups and horses’ hooves.

Please listen, download and share the album around!

The pieces here were contributed to Cities and Memory’s ongoing programme to remix the world one sound at a time – none of the pieces here are from our series of one-off projects, most of which have their own album releases, which you can find over here.

Thanks to Alex Hehir, Drombeg, Jase Warner, Heiko Jay, Robert van Riel, Lianray Pienaar, Gad Whip, Daniel Williams and Matt Parker for contributing these pieces over the year, and thanks to Giulia Biasibetti for the album artwork.
