The street cafe that remixed itself

The street cafe that remixed itself
21st November 2017 Cities and Memory

A trip to sunny Mallorca today, with this brief field recording of the scene outside a street cafe on Calla d’Or, submitted by AJ Born.

We’ve let the field recording do the “work” in the reimagined version, setting it up to be processed and manipulated in real time by various tools.

In effect, loops of the field recording here are “playing” the processors, creating all of the bass sounds, synths, pulses and melodic loops you can hear here.

If our mind is a musical processor, here we have simply let the field recording pass through it, collecting the musical results on the other side – chance has played a major role in this composition.
