The Early Bird in Dakar
Today’s photography is from a beach in Dakar, Senegal, as the sun sets and birds wheel overhead, searching for remnants of food from the detritus left behind at the end of the day.
The image inspired Oxford musician Kid Kin to create a new piece titled “The Early Bird”:
“The image of birds circling the beach at Dakar brought to mind the idea of calm before/after the storm.
“After the busy day is over and the city dwellers have left, the birds have the freedom to roam and feast in peace.
“I wanted to create a piece of music that reflected this calmness in its ambience, but also unfolded in a way that anticipates or echoes the “storm”.
“Distorted guitars, spliced drum samples and cuts from previous & future work swell and rise throughout the piece.”
