Audio-Cartographic Experiments: what does a world tour with Foals sound like?

What does a world tour with one of the world’s biggest bands, Foals, sound like?

That’s the question our project Audio-Cartographic Experiments answers.

It’s a collaboration with artist Kit Monteith, who performs as a percussionist with the Foals live band, and he composed and recorded this album during their 2019 world tour. In each of the cities the band performed he made field recordings of the spaces and streets they visited, while on each flight composing musical pieces on his phone.

Recorded entirely on an iPhone 6s, he created an album designed to be listened to in a single sitting, blending continuously to unfurl the story of a unique journey around the world – and we’re delighted to present it as an interactive sound map on Cities and Memory.
