Cities and Memory radio

Cities and Memory radio is a great way to start exploring the sounds of the world!

Tune in now, and you’ll hear randomly-selected pairs of sounds from more than 5,000 on our global sound map – field recordings of incredible locations from more than 100 countries and territories, and reimagined compositions built from those recordings. Each time you refresh the page, it will reload a new selection of sounds for you!

The sounds in Cities and Memory radio cover parts of the world as diverse as the hubbub of San Francisco’s main station, traditional fishing women’s songs at Lake Turkana, the sound of computer data centres in Birmingham, spiritual temple chanting in New Taipei City or the hum of the vaporetto engines in Venice.

Every sound is accompanied by a reimagined version, in which an artist has created a recomposed piece using the original field recording as source material and inspiration.

If you’d like to take some of our fantastic sounds with you wherever you go, you can also subscribe to our podcast or download our free albums.
